FGS Micro Grants: We're Funding Gardener-Led Projects This Summer
Got an idea that would make the Victory Gardens better? We want to fund it.
Starting this year, the Fenway Garden Society is offering micro grants to gardeners who want to lead projects that benefit the community. We're setting aside up to $5,000 to fund projects in the $500–$1,000 range — and we want to hear what you've been thinking about.
Applications are open now through June 30, 2026.
What kinds of projects?
Anything that benefits fellow gardeners, the park, or the neighborhood — not personal plot improvements. Think workshops, common area improvements, educational materials, community events, or something we haven't even considered. If it's good for the garden and you can make it happen, we're interested.
Some ideas to get you thinking:
A hands-on skills workshop on CPD Saturday (fence repair, composting, soil health)
Improving a neglected common area — a pollinator garden, better signage, path cleanup
Guides or materials other gardeners can use season after season
A public event connecting the gardens to the Fenway neighborhood
How does it work?
Fill out a short application form — it takes about 15 minutes. Tell us your idea, how it connects to this year's FGS themes, who benefits, what the money covers, and roughly when it'll happen. No uploads, no budget spreadsheets.
A review panel of board members, Section Coordinators, and Area Directors evaluates proposals at the June and July board meetings. Projects approved in June or July have the full summer season to get done. Want to know how selections are made? Read our [How Projects Are Selected →] page.
Who can apply?
Any FGS member in good standing with a current 2026 plot.
How are projects selected?
A review panel consisting of Executive Board members, Section Coordinators, and Area Directors will evaluate proposals at the June and July meetings; 2-3 projects will be chosen at each meeting. Read more on
Before you apply
Review the [Micro Grant Terms & Conditions →] — they cover eligible and ineligible project types, how funds can be used, and what's expected of grant recipients. By submitting an application, you agree to these terms.

This is a pilot program — the first year we've tried this. We're keeping it simple, learning as we go, and making it better for next time. We can't wait to see what you come up with.
