World Bee Day Celebration

Celebrate World Bee Day with us at the Fenway Victory Gardens on Friday, May 23 from 11AM to 4PM for a fun-filled afternoon honoring our tiny pollinator heroes!!

Hosted at the FGS Pollinator Garden in partnership with the Boston Area Beekeepers Association, this family-friendly event will feature hands-on activities, games, crafts, gardening fun, and opportunities to learn more about the vital role bees and other pollinators play in our ecosystems and food systems.

Visitors of all ages can plant a sunflower to take home, try on a real bee suit, meet local beekeepers, enjoy face painting, enter a garden raffle giveaway, and pick up free pollinator seed packets while supplies last. Whether you’re a longtime gardener, a curious neighbor, or just looking for a joyful spring activity in the city, we hope you’ll stop by the gardens and celebrate World Bee Day with us.

Pruning Workshop: Brace Your Shrubs for Winter

Learn how to prepare your garden for icy storms and frigid temps!

When the fall season starts, many people wonder whether it's still appropriate to prune trees and shrubs. Is it too late?

In this new program Jen Kettell will help you discern which species can be pruned in fall and will instruct on the specific end-of-season–pruning strategies to prevent storm and animal damage.

Attendees will learn how to:

•Identify species that can and cannot be pruned in the fall.

•Make pruning cuts in accordance with recommended seasonal standards.

•Strategize pruning to reduce storm damage and explore repellents and guards to minimize animal damage!
